Tangos National High School in the Philippines witnessed a vibrant display of cross-cultural learning and camaraderie as it hosted the Korea-Philippines Teacher Exchange Program on October 25, 2023. This initiative, designed to promote cultural understanding and education, featured a wide array of activities and presentations that left a lasting impact on all who attended.
 
The program commenced with a heartwarming performance of a nationalistic song, setting the stage for a day of cultural exchange and unity. Following the song, Ms. April D. Franco led a song prayer, invoking a sense of unity and gratitude. Ms. Fresnedi V. Natividad, Public Schools District Supervisor and Officer-in-Charge Principal, delivered a warm welcome to all participants and highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in education. She expressed her excitement about the opportunity for the selected grade 10 students to experience the rich culture of South Korea.
 
A highlight of the event was Lady Lhizielle R. Montero’s rendition of the traditional Korean folk song “Arirang.” Her soulful performance beautifully exemplified the spirit of the exchange program by bridging the musical heritage of both nations. The cultural exchange continued with a mesmerizing performance by the Kawag Dance Troupe, which showcased a traditional dance of the Philippines. The graceful movements and vibrant costumes were met with enthusiastic applause.
 
Ms. Ka Insuk and Ms. Kwon Eun Ji, Korean Exchange Teachers, took the stage to enlighten the audience about Korean values and culture. They engaged the students with informative presentations that included discussions on the importance of family, respect, and the traditional Korean Confucian principles. The students had the unique opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations with the teachers, further enhancing their understanding of Korean culture. The event ended with a heartwarming message from Mrs. Judith D. Gutierrez, Assistant Principal II, who expressed her gratitude to all participants and the Korean teachers. She emphasized the lasting impact this cultural exchange program will have on the students’ lives and the broader community.
 
The Korea-Philippines Teacher Exchange Program at TNHS showcased the power of cultural exchange in the realm of education. It provided students with a unique opportunity to learn and appreciate the values, traditions, and cultural richness of South Korea. This event is a testament to the importance of fostering international understanding and cooperation in our increasingly interconnected world.
